Mixture of stuff including some Laddie Ten which might be of interest to you.

ps the Laphroag isn't stolen, they forgot to take the tag off and it didn't set the alarm off on leaving.

That's an impressive collection there bruk.

FYI - the security tag comes off very easily with a pair of cable cutters as I've found out myself in the past, incidentally on a bottle of Laphroaig.

I tend to have a few open and slowly work my way through them. Jura Prophecy was a bit disappointing thus I had to open the Laddie Ten which is current fave.

Enjoy the Peat, where do you source the more unusual ones from? Think it would have to be a very special day to open that one above.

I've got a 1975 Macallan in the drinks cabinet. My father bought it for me in 2004 just befor I deployed to Iraq and we agreed to open it together when I got back. When I did, I was in no mood to drink it. I've never had a good reason to open it since, so will probably give it to my son in a decade or two.

Currently empty. 🙁

However, am off on my travels shortly so will be picking up the odd thing duty free. Whisper it quietly, but my first pick to buy will be this;

[img] [/img]

I am a huge fan of Japanese whisky.

Then, next purchase will be this;

Problem is, you see, I've really, really got in to my rum instead...Sorry.

Just run out of Maker's Mark. Jack is the only whiskey in my collection at the moment. Could do with Sainsburys having another special.

Salsaboy: Bruichladdich's packaging is impressive. It's very contemporary, not your traditional whiskey brand. The distillery must have quite a open minded marketing department.

What a fabulous idea for a thread; interestingly enough I realised the other day that Monkey Shoulder isn't Single Malt, but blended.

My Whisky really doesn't last very long at all. I normally get a few bottles at Christmas that are lucky to make it to March. I do really like sitting down to watch a film with a few glasses of straight Laphroaig.

Down to one bottle of Talisker here, plus a bit of cooking whisky I think. Although there is a bottle of Bruichladdich PC10 on it's way to us.

Was saving the old hokonui for my graduation after i brought it back from new zealand ( thanks no fuss )

Unfortunantly i was soloing mountain mayhem the day of my graduation - and by all accounts i had a better time 🙂

So now i guess ill pop the top if trailrat jnr ever arrives.

Balvenie 12 is my favorite although my next purchase will be bruichladdich 12 after sampling it for cheap at weatherspoons last christmas eve.

I had about a dozen bottles on the go until recently. Unfortuately I never wanted to finish one off and replace it. Now have a dwindling supply of the dregs of about 6 bottles.
Starting to like peated malts more. Moving away from 12 year old Balvenie towards a nice 18 year old Caol Isla.

Favourite there is the Mortlach 16yo, just lovely! The 2 bottles of Aberlour there won't be opened for a while, especially the one on the right as it was a special edition for the village bicentenery, altough villagers got it less than half price, result 😉
I'm going to treat myself to a bottle of 21yo Balvenie Port Wood for the festive period this year as it's just delicious 😀

No idea how you lot have a "collection" of whisky. If it's in the house, it tends to get drunk within the week. I've not got a good rep with making it last though; when at university my technique for writing essays was start the evening at about 11 with a full bottle(sadly own brand co-op blend in those days) and a load of books and wake up at 8 the next morning with an empty bottle and a finished essay I had simply no knowledge of.

I think both of the above might indicate I'd have an alcohol problem if I had better access to shops!

The two at either end are rather nice. The small one is an 18yo Macallan. There is a bottle of Bushmills 1608 waiting for Christmas somewhere in the house too.

What a smashing topic. 😀

I like a drop meself, here's my wee collection just now.
[IMG] [/IMG]
The concoction in the swingtop at the front is the latest batch of homemade "Drambuie Liqueur" another week and it'll be filtered, bottled and sealed. I then leave it in the shed, insulated and tucked away in a drawer for 6 months at least. I currently have another 2 litres of the same brew settling in there. The Jamesons I use to make a Bailey's Irish Cream. The Kepak Buchan one in the coffin is quite nice, I've tried to find out what it actually is, it was a gift to me about 6 years ago, from a Supplier to the company I work for.
Also, this was a damn fine birthday! 😀

I read in a whisky tasting book that once a bottle is open it loses a lot of the volatiles that create the flavour over time, and a whisky collection with many opened bottles is to be avoided?

Just one bottle of Ardbeg here, not for the above reason though, just having too many is a bad influence...!

Just returned from a Tour of Islay - visit all distilleries by bike. It rained. It was windy. Bruichladdich served up a generous taster of Dark Magic, which is now on the Christmas list 🙂

Oh, and the Ballygrant Inn had a fair collection...

My collection is a little sparse at the moment, half a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood (on offer in Sainsbury's at the weekend) and a bottle of Glenmorangie single cask which we bottled in the speakeasy the day it was announced that the company had been sold to LVMH.

I'd never manage to accumulate a collection half as good as most of the ones here, it's always drunk too quickly 🙂

Suppose that makes sense, I usually finish a bottle before opening another.
This topic had me reaching for the half finished bottle of glenfiddich........ on a weeknight! 😯

I'm glad this thread made me look at my stash... I discovered that there are unlagged central heating pipes in the back of the cupboard where these were shoved when we moved house and a few of them which were up against the pipes were a bit warm.

I'll be at B&Q tonight buying some lagging.

Half a bottle of Madeira cask aged Penderyn. So hardly worth taking a picture.
Recently explained my penchant for welsh whiskey to a scotch whiskey seller. He scoffed as if I were an imbecile.
Harsh, but fair ? I mean about my whiskey choice, not about being an imbecile. (which is probably right 🙂

Penderyn is nice though.

I had quite a few bottles of various whiskies and vodka's ... but I've let it deplete itself over the past couple of years.

Not so keen on the really smoky whiskies such as Caol Ila .. much prefer a nice smooth single malt. Aberfeldy is rather nice.

my stash is of an unknown..

The orchard and pressing business that I'm helping out with has a small quantity that came from the oak barrels the previous owner bought.
Each barrel had some whiskey left in it, so he drained it off through a fine filter and bottled it.
He's left me the 13litres and as the new owners don't drink its down the muggin's here to get rid of it.

Its pretty oakie as you can guess, and its rather strong but tasty all the same.

🙂

Treated myself to a couple of bottles today. I have been wanting to try the Japanese whisky for a while and have never seen it about but saw it today in a lager Waitrose and thought it be rude not to buy it especially with £5 off.
