RIP "Chuckles". Thank you.
Thanks TJ. Worthy of a moment's reflection.
RIP.
Aren't there meant to be biblical conitations to the last soldier dieing?
Saw that this morning and definitly worth a minute of reflection.
joined the navy at 15 😯
Damned fine innings. RIP.
Perhaps the one time I will ever agree with you TJ but a very worthy mention.
Good Effort Chuckles.
RIP.
RIP
Nods solemnly.
Mr Choules remembered WWI as a "tough" life, marked by occasional moments of extreme danger.
Understatement of the century, what a man.
R.I.P.
Sounds like a top bloke.
Refused to attend Aussie WW remembrance events, would go for weeks without speaking to people.
Cheerio old fella
We won't forget
A life so long it goes back into history - remarkable. Very warming to see that he spent almost all of it with his wife.
RIP, I will raise a glass of rum to the old matloe.
Rest in peace. Thank you.
RIP, Chuckles - and Thank you!
They played a bit of an interview with him on 5 Live this morning. He was relentlessly upbeat saying what an absolutely wonderful life he'd had.
Top bloke. RIP
The last WW1 veteran dies
The last WW1 combat veteran dies.
Bet his book's worth a read.
I heard that interview too Binners, I was listening to this in the car with my 7 year old and my 15 year old (who has been set on being a Royal Marine for the last two years). I tried to explain to the younger one the significance of his passing. We all owe him and many many others like him, an enormous debt of gratitude.
raise a glass to his memory
RIP
A subtle but important day for everyone. WWI has just passed from our collective living memory.
Helluva good innings. RIP.
And a wee bump for thee evening crew and raises a small glass in tribute
Cheerio old bean.
Ta muchly for the graft.
I raised this as a discussion at lunch - shocking how many of my (18-26 year old) staff assumed that everyone from WW1-era was dead...
Rest in peace.
Lest we forget?
I won't...
