fancy getting a 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor ..will it work with my old nikon D70?

Yes.
From the tech info on the lens, on Warehouse Express site...
Manual focus only with the Nikon D40, D40x or D60 (full AF on all other Nikon DSLRs).
