One of my bags was lost by the airline on a recent trip abroad. I reported this at the airport on 23/5 and then at the airline office on 25/5. 2 weeks later they imformed me that they couldnt find the bag and to inform the airline office in the UK on my return on the 19/6, and then I could make a claim.
I did this and was given a claim no., but have since made dozens of calls only to be always told that they are waiting for a reply from Kathmandu and the system is not working so I must wait a few more days.
The bag has now been missing for 42 days but the airline will still not admit it is lost.
Does anyone know what course of action I can take to instigate a claim against the airline if they will not even admit it is lost. I cannot even claim off my insurance without a letter from the airline admitting it is lost.
Cheers
Sorry, no advice apart from ring citizens advice.
I have never had lost luggage, just broken stuff & they manage to cover every angle so you can't claim a bean back. I would suspect you should get something back, perhaps you just need to harass them some more & start mentioning 'speaking with your solicitor'??
To give you a slightly cheerier view to the above I've had to claim off airlines twice for damage to bikes and never had a problem after a first letter from them trying to fob me off.
The airlines liability is limited and based on the weight I belive for lost items.
