look at dropbox if you're just going to publish a file for people to download. You can have private (invite only) or public folders. You get 2gb for free.
You should try Dropbox - makes the rest seem rubbish by comparison.

It's going to Italy so I need it to be as simple as possible for them to access.
They don't need an account. Just right click on the file and it'll give you a link to send them
