The outlaws were over at the weekend and the Fa' in Law was on about some new tech that he's getting (he's a complete computer/tech geek). It sounded like a notebook/laptop that you can seperate the screen from to use as a tablet (er..hope I've got the terminology right!).

When I told my wife after they'd left, her reaction was a classic, something like - 'WTF is he wasting his money on now, all he does is sit there surfing porn. He needs to buy himself a decent bike and get some exercise...the lazy selfish a**e' (woah.....nice eh?! 😆 )

So, if such laptop/tablet things exist, how much are they (not that I'm going to do any s**t stirring of course 😉

I imagine he's on about the Asus Transformer, new versions are due out at the end of the month

I imagine the like of these are a real threat to netbooks.

Older versions reviewed:

Three different versions listed in techradar's top 10 tablets

not too pricey, as a lover of Asus netbooks I look at them with a lot of interest.

About 500 IIRC

Cheers for the info. Looking at the link, and from what the Pa in Law was saying, I think it is the latest version Asus Transformer - he was on about it being robust enough to use outdoors etc. My wife said she doesn't know why he needs that facility, 'cos he never goes outdoors! 😆 (To give you a flavour of his lack of interest in any sports, he didn't see the point of the Olympics at all - & he thinks we've just bought bikes to look at them, and was astounded when we said we go out riding in the rain!!)

I was hoping it'd be a £1500 job, so there'd be good stirring potential (he's told the Mother in Law that they can't afford to go on holiday this year.....uh ohhh)
