So as I leave my employment on Friday for pastures new, I need to give my laptop back.

I will be issued with a new one when I start my new job, but personal use is going to be a big no no this time round.

So, I need something, doesn't have to be flash, just with a decent sized hard drive. Usual home use.

Is it worth a recon? Don't really want to spend much money on one for limited use.

Get a mac. it'll have a lower spec than a comparable PC, but it will always work, and doesn't need silly high speed as it doesn't run windows.

I'm very happy with my Acer 4810TZ, works well (self-employed plus home use) and with an 8 hour battery.

I got one of these - does the job for me. I really don't see the need for a Mac if it is just for general home use/pictures/music/broswing etc.

And I am a die-hard Mac fan and use one all day every day (and have been since 1991). I just can't see the justification for spending so much more for light use at home.

You haven't given a price option.
ANyway got one of these for my partner (i5/intel graphic's):

Very happy with it, solid little performer that will last her the next three years (and came in purple which was her one stipulation)

Samsung R519 with Windows 7 from ebuyer - I've had mine about 10 months and it's been great. Perfect for normal home use and my wife used it while job hunting for all CV/presentation type work, despite many numpties who'll tell you that you need to spend lots more.

EDIT - no longer available at ebuyer but you can get it at Argos - £350
(and other places)
