I've got a laptop with 3gb of ram. Currently my CPU usage is ~4%, but my memory usage is ~2gb, and it was 2.7gb earlier.

Right now I only have itunes, firefox, and task manager running. Done loads of virus scans and found nothing. Started a few days ago, and the whole thing is running super slow. Any idea what's causing it? Tried killing off unnecessary processes/turning on and off etc.

May not be related but our work pc had 12 updates last night. As did my laptop this morning , i know the works pc was deffo running slower prior, possibly due to downloading the updates.

Windows will always use a load of memory - for caching and stuff.

Go to the task manager, then the processes view. Go to the view menu and select columns - this is handy for tracing problems. You can select commit size to see how much virtual memory things are taking - this can be way more than the working set. Oh and select 'show processes from all users'
