Hi,

Off to the Lake District for a few days with work am free in the evenings so thought I might do some walking. I am in kendal. Any ideas?

Seems like so many options hard to narrow it down. Or a wild swim might suffice if anyone knows where to access that.

Kendal isn't really in the Lake District. Geographically it is on the periphery.
But you have Scout Scar or Helm Crag on your doorstep.
If you are happy to drive then there should be parking in Kentmere of an evening and you can go over Garburn or Nan Bield.
Further into central lakes and you can park near Near Sawrey for a delightful stroll over Claife Heights.

A great walk is Alcock Tarn(not great for swimming) ย from Rydal Hall to Grasmere

Walk up to Potter Tarn Gurnal Dubbs(great wild swim) from in-between Staveley and Burneside

Both very ridable Alcock Tarn is a push

Rydal Hall to Buckstones Jump is a great walk and you can have a wild slide and dip in the water

Just this week I did a circular walk around Rydal Water with the family. It was lovely. There are some cool caves on the hillside on the South side of Rydal Water. It is a straightforward walk but you could go for a swim in the water as well.

I'd be driving to Grasmere, walking up to Easdale Tarn, quick swim, back for a pint in Tweedies...
Or just Rydal water as described above, followed by a pint in Tweedies...

Rydal water is good for a swim.

Jenkin Craig from Ambleside is tidy and straightforward.
