Looking for a device for locating lost keys. My wife keeps losing them - £300 recently on replacement car keys 😞 Tole and Cube seem flawed. Anything really useful out there?

The flaw is she'll likely lose the key finder thing.

AIUI they're all based on Bluetooth tech.

However, there are some that will remember the location at which the tracker lost contact with the bluetooth host (phone) and then when within range again will signal the tracker to make a noise.

these came up in my inbox the other day. no idea how useful they are though

Tile has rescued me many times.

Not infallible but still good.

Stoner - yeah, they all seem to be similar, with mixed reviews. Ta for the link.

I wouldn't buy one unless it has a replaceable battery. With Tile you are supposed to replace the whole thing every year.

CraigW - yeah, that and the fact we live in a low population area, so chances of many others running the app are slim.

I went with TrackR pixel specifically because you can change the battery yourself (coin cell). Lots of the others you can’t.

They work well enough. You can usually ping them okay from your phone and they beep loud enough that you can find them.  We have had an issue with the ones on keys coming apart due to the missus dropping them. 🙄

Tile saved me a couple of times.

Tip, if you do get a Tile - don't update the app on your phone. Then they last for years. If you update the app, you have to buy a new Tile.

I put my Tile in my suitcase at the airport so I can check it got loaded on board. Nothing I can do if it isn't, of course, but it gives me a bit of a warm fuzzy.

I have TrackR - it drops bluetooth connection, the separation alerts are ok, but can get annoying so I have them switched off.

It was useful one day when I dropped my keys in the pub - got home and couldn't find them. Crowd location had them in the pub, so I emailed the pub and somebody had handed them in. Winner!

Tile for us here. Not perfect but pretty good.
