Thanks to a thread last week I happened to stumble upon the genius and quality that is Deadmau5, just keep playing everything he has over and over (particularly liking The 16th Hour, Soma, Bots & the Rob Swire version of Ghosts & Stuff).

Been out of the dance/techno/house/hard nrg scene for a long while, so I daresay there's a lot more I'm missing...

So STW ravers, what do you suggest I acquaint myself with in this modern newfangled world?

Swedish house mafia.
Consisting of, steve angello, axwell, sebastian ingrosso (and eric prydz.)
If you want a total class tune search for "leave this world behind" by Deborah cox it just builds and builds! They've (between them) remixed all sorts! Another old classic from that stable is eurythmics "sweet dreams"
list is endless give them a whirl, you won't regret it!!!

Have a listen to Annie Mac and Kissy Sell Out on Radio 1 iPlayer. They are pretty on the ball when it comes to upfront dancefloor electronica.

Can I reccomend some slightly more, um, less known stuff? For d+b check out d-bridge, instra:mental, consequence, and alex perez. For some quality house, try books shade, Gui borrato, norken, metamatics, and I second pryda...

cheers chaps, thanks for the suggestions 🙂 To give you some more clues to my tastes, here's what I've liked out of these so far:

"leave this world behind" by Deborah cox

Not a big fan of this kind of dance, don't like lyrics generally, this is a good tune, but not really my thing (though one of my all time favourite classic tunes is Delerium's 'Silence' remixed by Tiesto).

Like Deadmau5 but diiiirtier:

Liked this 8)

Pendulum, Orbital, Underworld, Faithless, Subfocus etc

Know of and listen to all these chaps, many good things amongst them 🙂

Pryda... some tracks that I've liked on Youtube, but maybe a little too 'House-ie' for me, I like it a little harder and dirtier, heavy bass & lot's of buildup, laser beams and flashing lights... that kind of stuff 🙂 Get the talc on the floor (do the kids still do that?) whack your slippy shoes on and start moving around 8)

Always liked the Ministry of Sounds 'Hard NRG' compilations if that gives anymore clues as to what new stuff I'll like 🙂

cheers

Deadmau5 is damn good aint he?. I'm not really into "that type" of music, but I'm properly hooked on his stuff. Would love to get to see him live, he's just done a mini UK tour.

Any dirty south remix also, oh and glad you liked" leave the world behind" one of the biggest last year. Roll on pacha and ibiZa.
One other thing, the Swedish h m aren't all vocally stuff, have some really deep underground tunes. Odd one on spotify anda few on you tube to whet you're appetite.
Happy dancing !!!!:) 🙂

Blimey, for once, someone else actually beat me to it! Well done that man...

He is right though, if you like Deadmau5, but want it even dirtier and perhaps dare I say it, funkier too, then check out Wolfgang Gartner for sure...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3DchfavrME

That's just 4 of his top tracks... There are LOADS of them! I'm amazed how little known he still is in the UK too, he's an incredible producer...

On a similar vibe, check this out from a guy called Sydney Blu...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbwfia0mIdo

Swedish House Mafia also a bunch of top producers, and as said above, not all vocal stuff too.

If you like your breaks, then Plump DJ's obviously, Stanton Warriors, bit of Krafty Kuts (he's incredible live!), Evil 9, Adam Freeland etc... All top guys.

On a more straight up Electro House vibe, check out the likes of Vandalism, Sebastien Leger, TV Rock, Chris Lake, Mark Knight, Stockholm Syndrome, Dave Spoon, Paolo Mojo, Arno Cost, Ian Carey, Sandy Rivera, Bart B More, Laidback Luke, Guy J, Mason, Dirty South etc... To name but a few! 😉

psychle, if you want names of specific tunes, or any mixes etc, just drop me an email... Been DJing about 12 years myself now, bit out of touch with the last few months of dance music, but everything from about 1996 onwards I'm pretty au fait with and can recommend you some music based on your tastes!

I don't know what Deadmaus sounds like, but do check out Digitalism as recommended above because they're wicked.

Best live dance act I ever saw as well.

if you have itunes then in the radio- dance/electronic section there's a station called energy 98 or you can access it directly from the net, might give you some ideas.
