[#2306419]

I have been unemployed since the end of October. I was hating my job and managed to negotiate a reasonable leaving package, but it was a bit of a gamble in today's economic environment.

Well today and I had a second interview in Edinburgh and whilst I was coming home on the train the agency phoned me up to say that I had been offered the job and I have accepted it. Not sure when the start day is, but I am sure that it will be in the New Year.

I had set myself the goal of getting a new job before my 40th birthday and just missed it by 2 days, but I am delighted to be honest ๐Ÿ˜€

Had a second tier interview yesterday after 14 months of part time work, I felt it went well, just gotta wait now but hopefully 2011 will be a tad more financially secure for Familia tubing....
Well done welcome back to the rat race ๐Ÿ˜€

Cracking news old chap! I'm in exactly the same boat since September and now have a great job on 50% more than I was on before in a much better organisation. Start Jan 10th.

Happy Christmas!

I just turned a job down. 42.5 hours a week in Leeds does not appeal to me. Sticking with the short term stuff, its less pay but its 3.3 mile from my house

Hello everyone.

Thank you for your messages.

Typing this is a bit of a struggle as I have a wee bit of a sore head ๐Ÿ˜€

The job is with Standard Life in their Group Financial Risk team. I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I quite enjoy it and I think that there is a lot of challenging and interesting work there to be done so I am going to be kept very busy which pleases me.

Great minds obviously think alike because that is something I have been thinking about.

Not sure what to get though. I will have to post a thread over in the Bike forum for some advice I reckon.

Which SL office will you be based in? There are a few STWers working for them already.

Standard Life House on Lothian Road.

Who else works there then?

One thing I am going to do is buy a bike rack for my car so that I could maybe join up with you chaps on the rides you do around the area (I live over in Livingston).
