Another light gone out.

I'll have to hold my hands up and say that I'd never heard of him until this morning.

His widow was on R4 this morning just before 9am and (another confession) it was a bit dusty in the vicinity of my homeworking desk.

I've put his songs on shuffle for most of this afternoon and he really is/was rather good.

I'd never heard of him (and i used to run a record shop) until he was mentioned on the turntable thread the other day. Very strange coincidence.

Admit I'd never heard of him either, but a lot of artists I follow started paying tribute - should check him out.

Completely unrelated but also heard of the passing of TY the other day. Part of the soundtrack of the London summer of 2004, best summer ever..
Also COVID complications, so I read. Excellent human.

I think Ty went the same day as Little Richard, so the news was somewhat passed by. Shame.

Not really a coincidence. Our tickets for John at the Royal Festival Hall in Feb this year are still on my desk, unused, and we're still waiting for the right time to sit down and play his music again.

There will be tears.
