Died last week, only 48. Nice article on him here: https://www.residentadvisor.net/features/3178
Soundtrack to Arrival was incredible. Still haven't got round to watching Sicario, so must do that.
And now having heard the "IBM 1401 Processing Unit" piece on there, I think I'm going to have to buy that. Wow.
Yes, saw that over the weekend. I wasn't aware that he did film soundtracks though as I'd bought IBM1401 and Fordlandia when they were released 10+ years ago.
I saw this the other day. Decided against starting a thread as, well, as a rule, stw are pretty uncultured... 😉
saw it on dangerous minds
I did however order the IBM cd (and a couple of others). Might even be delivered today.
didn't realise his soundtrack for Bladerunner 2049 was knocked back.
as a complete aside I'm lookin for a minimalist piece called constellations (reputedly by an Icelandic composer...)?

Erm, have you seen the grime thread?? 😀
Didn't realise he'd done Arrival. Fordlandia is a lovely piece of work as well.
Erm, have you the grime thread?? 😀
Erm... yeah. But there’s not a big alt.country/grime crossover (yet). I’m keeping my powder dry.
have you looked in on the EURef/Brexit thread lately.. 🙀
sadly no cd(s) today.
eta to rid the <span> shite
Sicario is a truly mesmerising soundtrack and is more than half the film's impact.
Read the obituary and thought it sounded interesting so listened to a bit on Spotify. And now. Won't bother with any more. Sounds like what it mostly is -film soundtrack music to fill your ears while something happens on the screen. Not enough to stand on its own.
My 2 cents. Now back to grime.
Worth saying, that.
IBM, Orphee and Fordlandia all arrived today. Sounds like my kind of thing thus far (Orphee down, IBM started).
decided to give Sicaro and Arrival a go...
Been listening to a playlist of his material on YouTube all morning due to this thread, really been enjoying it
