how the * do I get the remainder of the key out?

Its my back door which is a double glazed 'lift the handle up with a full length lock' type lock.

There isn't quite enough key left in the lock to try and pull it out.

Am I f*d ?

I would try a very small dab of araldite on the end of the key stub and put it back in the lock. I did this once and it worked a treat but the key bit still in the lock was quite loose so came out quite easily.

bite the bullet and call a locksmith, it'll cost about 45 quid during office hours and he'll have the broken piece out in acouple of minutes.
where are you?

don't go anywhere near araldite though.

if you can still lock/ unlock it then you can change the barrel out quite easily and cheaply (about a tenner from screwfix)

Ring a locksmith?

Changle the barrel?-just take out the barrel and go to a locksmith and buy new keys and barrel if the glue option doesn't work.

If you do replace the barrel-make sure someone stays home against burglars.

Is your wife in?
is the bedroom light on?
is your best mate a chippy or handy man?

If you can answer yes to all these, id kick the door in and be mighty pi$$ed off....

Pair of tweezers out of my Swissy (knife) worked a treat for me when I snapped off a key in a bike lock....

Did this on my side door. I removed the lock barrel: do a search on t'internet to find the type of lock and how to remove it (mine was very easy). But I guess the lock would have to be unlocked to do this.

After it was removed I managed to shake and tap the bit of key far enough so I could get it out with some tweezers. Failing that I'm sure lock barrels are very cheap to buy and replace.

Put the spare key in from the other side, give it a light tap and it should push enough of the broken one out, then get hold of it with some tweezers/pliars.

I assume it's not the type that you can insert the key from both sides?

Well, what did you do?

I hate it when threads aren't concluded.

I once tried to pick the front door using a coloured pencil 🙄
It was a long time ago, I was a very young latch-key kid, parents not in from work for hours, hey I panicked alright. It was worth a shot.
