Yes I do live in an affluent area
Have you moved to Mobberley?
Your house?
No not just like a T5 which is actually no bigger and often smaller than a large family car or mid sized SUV. At least get your facts right if your going to demonise thousands of normal innocent people just minding their own business and getting on with life.
At work we have, at the moment, getting on for a couple of thousand vehicle ranging from a Smart fourtwo up through pretty much every common SUV, and a couple of less common Alfa Stelvios, through passenger Transits, Hyundai and Renault to commercial vans from Enterprise, mostly big Transits, Renault Traficmaster, VW Transporter and Mercedes Vito
As I have to drive these vehicles around the site, which is very congested, and which has industry-standard parking bays painted in some places, I’m all too aware of the relative sizes of what I’m driving, and I can state quite categorically that a Galaxy, Tucson, Stelvio, Mondeo, Grand S-Max, etc, are all a lot smaller than a van!
however this small island of ours wasn’t build for these,
I don’t feel safe when I’m riding a bike along the road
Hate to break it to you but our roads were certainly never built for bikes, some for horse and cart/coaches (which have a long and proud tradition of running poor people down) but the roads you see today were built for cars, buses and trucks, that you're allowed to ride a bike on them is just a happy coincidence.
Buying a couple of tons of refined and highly engineered natural resources just to sit on a drive and be looked at, that’s NOT damaging the environment is it?
We have a loong way to go yet, don’t we.
Seen a statement yesterday, being a meat eater is worse for the environment than our transport addiction is.
I feel I need that R904 in my life, not sure what for but it could drive around the horse field and look good..
We live in Devon and smile when I see the posh oversize 4x4s pussyfooting around the lanes. Funny thing is locals in vans and pickups don’t seem to have the same difficulties.
