How do I remove an album entry from the itunes library after I've deleted the associated music file from the itunes media folder? Hoping for an answer before I resort to chucking the .....mucho swear filter avoidance.... thing out the window.
Just select the album / tracks in the item, right click and delete.
No need to remove from the iTunes media folder (which you have already done) as iTunes will give you the option to do that when you delete tracks from the iTunes library.

Thought I was going mad. I was actually in a playlist, not 'music' so nothing would delete. Sorted now, ta.
Made the same mistake myself when I first started using iTunes. It took a good while before it suddenly dawned on me what I was doing wrong. Clot!
