iTunes has pulled one out of the top drawer, and deleted all but a few select albums from my library. I thought having it stored on a NAS with RAID would be secure enough against hardware failure, but obviously didn't factor int he vagaries of iTunes itself.

Luckily both my iPod and iPad have complete syncs of the erstwhile contents, but I can't find a way to get them from the device to the PC> It just wants to delete them and replace with the fraction that's left in the library on the PC.

Can anyone help?

You should be able to pull them off you ipod quite easily, but I imagine you ipad like the iphone the music is encrypted so can't be removed as easily.

Are you sure you music been deleted off the NAS and not just disappeared from within itune? Seems a very strange thing to happen.

Cheers Z1ppy, I haven't actually tried with the iPod as it was out in my car and it happened late last night. Perhaps that will re-sync correctly?

I'll have a read of your link, thanks.

The music is definitely gone from the NAS, I browsed to it, and also searched for track names / artists from the root of the drive. It is strange, you're right.

DON'T re-sync, as per your ipad it'll try to remove the music, just add it in as a windows drive and copy the music off it throgh explorer (or which ever way you like from that link).

Gizmo rip will copy all your music, playlists and pictures off your iPod onto any drive you like. Did mine a couple of weeks ago.
