We seem to be on a reasonably good run at the moment. 2x25 for me, and the same for Mrs Lawman. I can't retire on it, but it's a lot better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Yay £25.

First one in a while. Annual rate of return probably on par.

I've got a load* of cash sitting in an ISA doing nothing. I know premium bonds lost some of their appeal a year or so ago when they reduced the prizes, but are they still worth setting up?

* It's all relative. I'm no millionaire... yet.

£10,000 in premium bonds should get you ~0.75% per year.

Its better than nothing. My view was this; the amount I have sitting in PB's is what I need to pay off the mortgage in 3 years time when the current fixed comes to an end. Its safe, might gain a little (£275 in 3 months this year!) in prizes so can't do any harm and there's always a tiny chance of winning the big one - but it certainly can't go down.

whats your ISA rate. mine is at 0.45%, should really move it to PBs

It's changed recently - currently it's 0.03% which is just a kick in the teeth. At least all that interest is Tax Free though... /s

£10,000 in premium bonds should get you ~0.75% per year.

Thanks.

We all have a tax-free allowance for savings - I think it's £1k/annum

So as long as your savings are not making lots of interest, then you'll be under the threshold anyway regardless of where the money is stored.

I was going to buy some last week but the website can’t find my address. House is only 60 years old after all. Rang up and was told we can’t explain to you on the phone why we can’t set it up online but you can do it manually. I’ll have to stay a pauper I guess.

Nothing after £50 last month, thought I’d got myself a good patch after pulling them out and re investing it was a false dawn

£25 this month, leaving my return around 0.4% for time of investment.

I'm also looking elsewhere (a portion will stay as I want zero capital risk on that) but not sure where. ISA not an option at moment.

Had a feeling I had some premium bonds my mum bought for me yonks ago, and finally got round to tracking them down over lockdown - I had no documents for them, so filled in a form where you tell them everything you know about you and they search to see if you've got any.
Had a letter in the post at the weekend. Turns out I've had the princely sum of £100 in PBs since 1999.
Total winnings for the past 22 years: £0.

(I know that's not unlikely. But still.)

When my grandmother died, I learnt that she'd put some premium bonds in my name years earlier. With excited trepidation, 18 year old me filled in those forms to find out just how big the money pile was. £20 😀

£25 this month.
I'm playing with about 80% borrowed funds. I've won around £175 in a year and half, a significant return on the portion of my own money which is in there.
Going to have reduce my holding next month as Barclaycard want their £6.5k back or they'll start charging me interest on it. I will keep M&S's £3k in there, got another year before that one starts costing me.

Another big, fat zero. Taking almost all of it out this month too so unless £25 of holdings gets very, very lucky that'll be me out of the running for anything for a while!
