to me 29ers are just hybrid bikes.. I have seen fashions come and go i wonder why people are still dumb enough to buy in to them, seems like only yesterday some one was telling me 24" wheels were the future, then there were those ones with two different size wheels.. all came and went. just like 29ers will... rant below people..

I saw my first 29ers yesterday in Richmond Park.. they just look wrong.. They do look a bit like Hybrids to me I'm afraid 🙁

the whole 29er thing seems to be based around the fact that garry fisher says he both invented the mountain bike and original intended it to have 29" tyres..sadly he is full of shit and did not invent it, joe breeze made the first proper one..with 26" wheels... Charlie Kelly the guy who started the repack races was not happy when a certain Garry fisher and his clams .

I have a 29er, I also have a 26er, I ride both, I like both in different ways, I still can't see the arguments and why people can't accept it's just riding bikes, ride what you want and enjoy it!
OP is right that Gary Fisher's clams are ludicrous though, he's just musseling in on great work done by others
