Buying a laptop for my 14 year old son for Xmas.

Seems a good deal, what do others think.

Purely at a personal level, I've had nothing but bad experiences with Fuji laptops.

In my last job we referred to them as Deathbooks; we rolled out quite a few and every single one was returned to us. They wound up on the shelf gathering dust, nothing we did to them would make them work reliably enough to give out to staff.

They might have improved now, and it's possible we were just unlucky, but I've used plenty of their desktops and servers too and always been underwhelmed (and don't get me started on their bloody hard disks).

I may be being unfair, but I'd look for something else myself.

After you add VAT, it's not a huge amount better than a similar spec'd Dell, though extra ram and the logitech bits & pieces are nice.
I've never seen or used a Fuji laptop, so can't comment on them, but my g/f's Dell inspiron has been flawless for the last 1.5-2 years (but again Dell have had a bad rep previously...)
