Just reading about a 4.0 earthquake on Ischia yesterday. Not huge quake but given where Ischia is, should we be thinking about the nearby volcanoes? Vesuvius not exactly far away, Campi Flegreii supervolcano even nearer. Or am I putting 2 + 2 together to make 6?

Small earthquakes are a good thing. They relieve built-up stress.

Not too likely to be connected to an eruption, although the volcanoes do produce tremors quite regularly. The whole region is on a volatile tectonic system, one of the worst quakes was in the Straights of Messina in 1908, killed somewhere around 200,000 people!

I put together a book about it when I worked for a small print/publisher, called Angels In Blue Jackets, about the first people on the scene, the crew of a British warship.
Just googled it, and I'm somewhat stunned at what a copy is fetching these days!
