Hi
Just looking at Sharan / Alhambra. Can really only afford 2011/12 with quite high mileage. Is that a bad idea?? Ta
Need not be. 90k miles that much these days, depends on service history and other factors. Family car which has trundled up and down the motorway could be very sound. We've run a couple of cars to 120k-140k both where in very good nick mechanically (audi felt like new, Shogun only died due to rust in fuel tank - a well known problem and expensive to fix). We sold a RAV4 at 80k and the new owners have it up to 125k with no real issues.
Ta, I worry that black ones (preferred colour 😉 get hammered as minicabs??
I've never understood why there wasn't a commercial version of this called the Kevan.
I bought a 90k mile Alhambra and have run it for a trouble-free year. Very happy, and have no intention of changing it for a while, and its now done 110k miles.
It's not black, though... (I'd have thought an ex-minicab would have a whole lot more than 90k on it...)
Should be fine as long as it has been looked after! I had an old golf that I sold when it was on 176k and it's still going strong at nearly 200k!
@wwaswas true, all MPV names are slightly suspect? Payback for middle age dads actually wanting one!!
Mileage is not such a big thing these days, as long as its been serviced at the correct intervals with quality oil i.e. fully synthetic of the correct grade then 90k is nothing. Gone are the days of th 70,s when you would be lucky to get 80k out of a car
VW 1.9tdi Touran here 54 plate 145000. If its well serviced it should be ok. Check DMF though. Every year we think of selling it but it sails through the MOT so we think, just another year then...and another...and another...and another. Great cars (although it had a new camshaft at 70,000).
