We will be in touch
i say yes 😀
i had a pirated copy of the game when i got my commodore 64 for a christmas present back in 1988.good times 😀
No. The Secret of Monkey Island on the Amiga 500+ is. We've discussed this.
ah yes,yes we have 😳 🙁
am getting senile in my old age i'm afraid.
Both Wrong.
Manic Miner was easily the greatest.
Followed by Jet Set Willy.
No, smash tv was the greatest 🙂
Erm...... Repton.
Golden axe is actually.
Action Biker on C64
Elite.
Chucky Egg....
Lemmings.
Project Eden.
In 20 years of playing video games, it's the one that stays with me.
Chuckie Egg +1
Mario Kart Snes obviously
Worm.
End of thread 🙂
As it's neither Shadowrun nor Fallout 3 then no it isn't.
No it was sensible soccer
on a spectrum 128k pre amstrad rubbish
Some serious right arm waggling... broke my cheetah 125+, quickshot pro turbo and numerous other microswitched joysticks 🙂
Also liked sensible soccer on the amiga 500
Unreal Tournament.
Even now it's brilliant.
Elite for me I'm afraid chaps. For something so small, so basic, it was huge.
Daley Thompson's Decathlon.
Best singleplayer ever: Final Fantasy VII
Best multiplayer ever: Team Fortress 2
Elite is the easy answer but thinking back two games my mate had on his dad's Archimedes were years ahead of anything else I had seen Zarch I think was a fly around shooting game controlled by a mouse and Conqueror was a massively playable tank game. Loved them both.
Best multiplayer ever: Team Fortress 2
Original TF on Quake engine will always be my best version, TF2 is good though.
Elite is the easy answer because its the correct one.
I don't understand how the thread can have got this far with no Final Fantasy 7. You lot are all perverts.
The new elite is gorgeous and mahooooooosive. What I always wanted it to be.
+1 for unreal tourney.
Tazzymtb, not having a PC what I really want from Elite is a version for phone/tablet a something to dip into. A full, enriched version would simply take away my life 🙂
Elite
Miner 2049er
Xyrus

New elite?
Elite.
FFS EOT.
All good answers, but here's what 16k and dedication could get you in 1980:
XCOM
Syndicate
Chucky Egg
Bomb Jack
Super Bomber Man on SNES
Depends on generation really?
Manic Miner in the early days for its ground breaking nonsense (getting eaten by a toilet was very funny in the 1980s).
I thought Flashback was amazing on the Megadrive for its zany plot.
Goldeneye on the N64 was awesome as was Perfect Dark.
BUT, the best Videogame (which I appreciate is different from computer game) is Zelda, the Ocarina of Time.
If you have to have a computer game, it's Half-Life Episode 2.
Double Dragon.
Best "modern" console game is Portal.
Depends entirely on your age and computer upbringing.
For me the most fondly remembered are
C64
Uridium
Paradroid
Sanxion
Monty on the Run
Amiga
Zool
New Zealand Story
Shadow of the Beast
Xenon 2
Best modern?
GTA V for me such an amazing story line, great characters and great gameplay.
Due out on PS4 soon so looking forward to replaying it.
Lemmings, obvs
Elite . Quake was really good too .
Civilization
I recently downloaded an emulator and played some of the games of my youth. They were shit by today's standards, even though I loved them at the time.
I stand by XCOM though. The only game where you had no idea what was going to happen or what your aim even was.
In my time(s), chronologically:
Star Raiders (Atari 400)
Gorf
Defender
Downhill Domination (PS2)
Shadow of The Colossus
GTA San Andreas
GTA V
'Destroy him, my robots'
Also loved Karts on the N64. Specifically, Block Fort on battle mode.
Wt actual f
Two pages and no mention of Paper Boy?
Shame on STW.
Goldeneye on the N64 was pretty awesome.
Once had a Defender emulator on a PC, that was good but TT superbike was the only reason I bought a pS2 and it's the only game I play on it.
Thanks for that Drac! Fortunately I am Android 😉
Are you all on crack?
Civilization.
I don't understand how you can all be so wrong...
Thanks for that Drac! Fortunately I am Android
My deepest sympathies.
Monkey Island
Final Fantasy VII
Portal
That's about it really. Oh, and maybe the first Resident Evil, that made me a bit scared, the rest were pap.
Elite
Doom
Oids
Worms Reinforcements (Still Play on Dos Box)
Sensible Soccer
Kick Off 2
Dungeon Master
Links Golf
Need for Speed 2 SE
Virtual Pool
northernmatt - MemberThat's about it really. Oh, and maybe the first Resident Evil, that made me a bit scared, the rest were pap.
I think resi 2 was my first one, playing it late one night, the birds made me fall right off my chair 😆
Lots of good suggestions above. Loved X-Wing when it first came out on PC. Spent hours/days/weeks on that game. Tie fighter had a good story line as well and also had multi player.
Civ
Elite
Oh, also, SYNDICATE!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.T.A.L.K.E.R._(series)
don't remember mentioned on thread:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z_(video_game)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeSpace_2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation:_Captive_2
I appreciate the colour clash of Dizzy on the C64 (128 FTW) and the unbelievable (albeit too complicated for me!) GTA V, but the only game that surpassed all others for pure brilliance of gameplay & current tech, and therefore worthy of the OP....
Press Start? Heelll yeah!
Syndicate and UFO: enemy unknown/tftd.
Both great calls.
I loved syndicate!
Settlers! Another classic.
Doom for me - happy days playing deathmatch at work whilst telling the bosses it was network testing software
Elite.
Honourable mentions for Doom and Wipeout 2097
Exile?
It amazes me that every single post in this thread proves the OP wrong.
Aye, best modern game is GTA V, easily. Superb for both single and multiplayer.
It amazes me that every single post in this thread proves the OP wrong.
Come on, it doesn't really.
why is no one saying
TETRIS
because it's computer game heroin innit ?! everyone knows how to play it, everyone loses, you still go again
The adictive ones that spring to mind
Elite
Dungeon Master
Civilisation
Quake 1,2&3
Some funny ones
Multiplayer Quake 3
Multiplayer Bomberman
Multiplayer Joust
Multiplyer IK+
Multiplayer Speedball 2
Good music
Xenon 2 -
Tetris
Last Ninja 2
Blood Money
Also ive never owned a console and no longer waste time with games, life is a game
@Drac (waaaay back on page 1 of this thread), seeing that section of "Spy vs Spy" took me back to the hours my brother and I spent playing it on the Spectrum. Happy days. 😀
Although I would have to say Target: Renegade is my vote. Anyone else remember that?
Speedball 2
Sensible Soccer
Cannon fodder
Ocarina of time
Galaxian
Mario 64
Asteroids
Space invaders
All have taken up a lot of time
I was a Sensible software fan as I was a Rare fan so things like mega lo mania, diddly kong racing, banjo kazooie etc, etc were all warmly received.
Elite and Lords of Midnight. Huge world, immensely addictive and tiny memory footprint.
