Both Wrong.

Manic Miner was easily the greatest.
Followed by Jet Set Willy.

Elite is the easy answer but thinking back two games my mate had on his dad's Archimedes were years ahead of anything else I had seen Zarch I think was a fly around shooting game controlled by a mouse and Conqueror was a massively playable tank game. Loved them both.

Best multiplayer ever: Team Fortress 2

Original TF on Quake engine will always be my best version, TF2 is good though.

Tazzymtb, not having a PC what I really want from Elite is a version for phone/tablet a something to dip into. A full, enriched version would simply take away my life 🙂

Depends on generation really?

Manic Miner in the early days for its ground breaking nonsense (getting eaten by a toilet was very funny in the 1980s).

I thought Flashback was amazing on the Megadrive for its zany plot.

Goldeneye on the N64 was awesome as was Perfect Dark.

BUT, the best Videogame (which I appreciate is different from computer game) is Zelda, the Ocarina of Time.

If you have to have a computer game, it's Half-Life Episode 2.

Depends entirely on your age and computer upbringing.

For me the most fondly remembered are

C64
Uridium
Paradroid
Sanxion
Monty on the Run

Amiga
Zool
New Zealand Story
Shadow of the Beast
Xenon 2

I recently downloaded an emulator and played some of the games of my youth. They were shit by today's standards, even though I loved them at the time.

I stand by XCOM though. The only game where you had no idea what was going to happen or what your aim even was.

In my time(s), chronologically:

Star Raiders (Atari 400)
Gorf
Defender
Downhill Domination (PS2)
Shadow of The Colossus
GTA San Andreas
GTA V

Goldeneye on the N64 was pretty awesome.

Once had a Defender emulator on a PC, that was good but TT superbike was the only reason I bought a pS2 and it's the only game I play on it.

Lots of good suggestions above. Loved X-Wing when it first came out on PC. Spent hours/days/weeks on that game. Tie fighter had a good story line as well and also had multi player.

I appreciate the colour clash of Dizzy on the C64 (128 FTW) and the unbelievable (albeit too complicated for me!) GTA V, but the only game that surpassed all others for pure brilliance of gameplay & current tech, and therefore worthy of the OP....

Press Start? Heelll yeah!

@Drac (waaaay back on page 1 of this thread), seeing that section of "Spy vs Spy" took me back to the hours my brother and I spent playing it on the Spectrum. Happy days. 😀

Although I would have to say Target: Renegade is my vote. Anyone else remember that?

Speedball 2
Sensible Soccer
Cannon fodder
Ocarina of time
Galaxian
Mario 64
Asteroids
Space invaders

All have taken up a lot of time

I was a Sensible software fan as I was a Rare fan so things like mega lo mania, diddly kong racing, banjo kazooie etc, etc were all warmly received.
