I haven't signed up (yet) but it appears that you pay them, send them details of how far you want to ride in a month, send them details of how far you have ridden. If you don't make your target in time you can retrospectively change the target to ensure you do get the medal.

The business model seems to be :
A) You send us £X each month
B) There is an simple, automated website where your target and results are recorded, pretty much populated and maintained by the users
C) We send you a medal worth less than £X each month
I think I might have a go at setting that up myself...
Been about for ages, I used to do a running one, 200 miles for the month, cost £7 and I got a shitey medal and a rather good tight baselayer.
Worked really well for motivation, YMMV.
Well £7 for a baselayer isn't too bad. £7 for a medal?? That can do one.
That can do one
100%. All of it.
Working out in front of a magic mirror can do one too.
Get shouted at by a fake American virtual personal trainer can do one.
People pay strava to time themselves against their mates and we think that normal🤷♂️
Sounds very much like https://www.raceatyourpace.co.uk/ that my better half randomly got for us both Xmas 2019, I just did the Jan challenge gift and hated the aim of 600 miles given I normally don't do mileage goals, she did Feb and Mar too iirc on walk challenges. Baselayer and medal rewards where regardless of challenge results, you can tick "yes I completed the challenge" to get the rewards.
No idea how much a basic medal would cost, but the PX baselayers are much better for me and currently cost £16 for 3 in their "3 for 2" clothing promo.
Okay then, help me make my marketing fitness con more appealing.
What would make you pay to do what you already do for free and what shit do you want to receive through the post* to make you feel valued?
What about a Pokemon Go** style challenge?
*I will probably use electronic medals rather than real ones to save postage.
**IOf anyone knows what Pokemon Go actually involved, please can they tell me as I never bothered to check it out but know if was very successful for a while.

If you can supply guilt/recrimination free cycling I’d sign up in an instant (Something to get round the you’ve been out on you bike/sitting out in the shed on your bike enjoying yourself while I….)
It's the last thing we need around here to be honest.
We've already got plenty of pendants.
There was a web platform that you picked 2 charities on
One you liked one you hated
If you got your goal it gave it to the one you liked and vice versa
Okay then, help me make my marketing fitness con more appealing.
You could tie it into a special diet?

Don’t forget a companion drink as part of it with a catchy name “Wuel” perhaps.
Although I like to extract the p, I do think that if these sites actually provide the motivation to people it’s not a bad thing.
Like spending loads on a new bike as you’ll be faster etc, if it motivates you to ride more or keeps you riding its a good thing.

Boom, tisch, you here all week ? 🙂
Woman at work thought her husband was a bit sad for being all chuffed with his virtual Garmin achievements. She tried doing a few and was over the moon when she received a medal for her efforts. 🤷♂️
I read that Pokemon Go was an experiment by a govt. surveillance or academic chap who was trying to come up with ways of incentivising a slice of the public to go out and take a load of pictures/video of their surroundings.
Probably an internet "fact" that was an experiment by someone to see if a vaguely plausible lie would spread.
People pay strava to time themselves against their mates and we think that normal
Son, you might think that’s normal. I, on the other hand, think that’s deranged.
Pretty much every single person I know is of the same mind.
I don’t need some shouty person to ‘incentivise’ me to do anything; I’ll do it or not, depending on my frame of mind at any given moment.
Mostly not.
some cycling pals are setting up a distance logger which rewards mileage with points that can be spent with partnering cycling stores etc.
idk if it’s been done before, or whether they’re on to something. I was supposed to be helping in the testing phase but barely touch bikes these days, so not sure if it made it off the ground or not

Vitality Health insurance already does that, do activities and get free coffees, half price trainers etc. The wife makes it her mission to use every single perk you can get, which often involves walking around the bedroom at 10pm trying to get her 10k steps in for the day.....
