Where did Robocop come from? Nothing good about hat at all as I remember, well maybe with the exception of the sample on Silver Bullet
Oh yeah, Leon. Good choice.
Heat could've been good, but for the stupid ending.
Ronin, I've seen, but can't remember a thing about it.
Goodfellas - no
Ronin - No
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
How about adding Coco by Pixar which I thought was brilliant or
Kelly's hero's
National lampoons Animal House
Life of Brian
Where did Robocop come from?
I suggested it no one said anything bad about it - what don't you like about it? It's to my eyes a stone cold classic
As usual, increasing numbers of posters just posting films they like rather than films they think everyone will like. I mean Boogie Nights ffs?
Cuckoo's Nest
Shooters
Withnail and I
Don't like Platoon, love Full Metal Jacket.
Surprised how many we agree on, tbh.
Zulu.
Young Frankenstein.
The Producers.
LA Story.
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.
Annie Hall?
The Great Dictator
TBH, they’re both good, so is the Last Crusade – yep, those 3 great films, I’m glad that’s the only ones they made, and lets leave it at that.
Yeah they could have so easily ruined a great trilogy
People have mentioned great films. Alien(s), Robocop and Goodfellas are all right up there as films I like.
No film will be universally loved, however, going on the thread title, I feel the standout film mentioned that will get the best consensus as good film is Jaws. Toy Story would also fit the bill as well.
OT but Goodfellas was a Good Film until the Birks in Aberfeldy did a Goodfellas and Meatballs night - spaghetti and meatballs (garlic sliced according to the system), a glass of red and the film. Then it became a Brilliant Film.
Jaws is a great shout as is The Incredibles. I get Goodfellas and Casino mixed up and think they are both shite. Seen one Mafia film, seen them all.
Robocop is similar to Starship Troopers when it comes to people thinking they are supposed to be serious action films. They really aren’t and both are classics, but I wouldn’t think they’re universally loved.
Monsters Inc?
Other than Toy Story I find Tom Hanks really irritating. No idea why.
I suggested it no one said anything bad about it – what don’t you like about it? It’s to my eyes a stone cold classic
Well apart from the terrible acting, the awful script and poor direction, nothing.
Alien
Aliens
Terminator 2
Blade runner -original directors cut .
The Lion King
Blade runner -original directors cut .
Nah it's the Final Cut or nothing for me
awful script
don't be ridiculous!
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"
"Dead or alive, you're coming with me"
"You have 15 seconds to comply"
"Your move creep"
Utter classic 😀
The Sting.
The Lion King
Musical - I’m out
“I’d buy that for a dollar!”
“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me”
“You have 15 seconds to comply”
“Your move creep”
All of which look like Judge Dredd rip-offs to me
Legally Blonde.
Three Billboards Outside Whereitwas, Michigan
It was made before Judge Dredd!*

(joke, I had 2000AD no.1 🙂 )
Clueless
stand by me
truely loved by all generations in my house anyway
Just few I like
Heat (1995)
The Game (1997)
The big lebowski (1998)
if (1968)
No love for QT? Pulp Fiction!
The opening 20mins of Saving Private Ryan
Dumbo - for the score. "I seen a house fly..."
And Jungle Book, for the same reason!
True Romance
I think the answer is no, we can’t agree on one.
Blazing Saddles
Madagascar
Grease
Aladin
Plains Trains and Automobiles
The Man with two Brains
Notting Hill
No Country for Old Men
Goodfellas is not shite.
You may not like it , but it's not shite.
Goodfellas is not shite.
You may not like it , but it’s not shite.
Entirely subjective. I think it’s shite, you may think differently, either way is fine and nobody died. 😉
Plains Trains and Automobiles
Brilliant film as long as you stop it 15mins from the end and make up your own whacky ending.
Entirely subjective. I think it’s shite,
It is though, but a little more as to why people think something is shite or not is useful, rather than I didn't enjoy it or not to my taste - neither of which make something shite.
Okay, as previously stated I find once you’ve seen one mafia film you’ve seen them all. I genuinely get Casino and Goodfellas confused. They blend in to one, overly long, predictable film with cliche characters.
With it being subjective if I think it’s shit then, to me, that is exactly what makes it a bit shite. Opinions are great 👍🏼
Entirely subjective. I think it’s shite,
Agree it's subjective. But shite? Script is top notch, editing , cinematography, performances are all fabulous. Sense of time and place...
Shite is harsh for a well crafted piece of cinema.
Raiders of the Lost Arc seems like a great shout to me . If you want to be entertained for a couple of hours I don't really see how you could not enjoy it . No doubt I'm about to find out 🙂
I will bet a pizza on Ramsey Neil is watching Raiders of the lost Arc tonight.
🥨💄
Inglourius Barsterds
I think the answer is no, we can’t agree on one
Who’d have believed the ONE would be Tremors? A trshy little horror, with Kev Bacon of all people 😀
How could you not like it ?
Cos it’s rubbish 😂
I’d be (somewhat) surprised at anyone not liking:
The Apartment
Top Hat
Gone With The Wind (although it may be a tad long for some)
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
Midnight Run
I'm in a FB group called Last Exit To Nowhere Collective, spin-off from the t-shirt company.
Anyway the only film that this collection of uber-geeks agrees on is
John Carpenters, The Thing
And they are right.
Everything else is just varying degrees of fluff.
Apocalypse now
Dead Man's shoes
Raiders of the lost Arc. A film so great it's fans can't even spell the title correctly.
In Bruges. What do I win?
Young Frankenstein.
2001
Up
Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid.
Seven Samurai
Raiders Of the Lost Ark
North By North West
Downhill - 4 old uni mates do Coast to Coast walk - love this film though no one has ever heard of it.
Ghostbusters
Everybody likes Ghostbusters
the original, not the shite chick flick I’m currently watching
The Gods must be Crazy
Eddiebaby Surely you don't think I'm talking about that Harrison Ford nonsense . This is the one about a man trying to find his lost welding equipment . Truly riveting , until he finds his welder 🙂
Bridget Jones....
Ghost...
39 Steps...
Fifty Shades of Pink
Everybody likes Ghostbusters
Never seen it.
In Bruges! ( She's in it 😀 My GF)
Never seen it.
In which case, you are weird.
More like Wired...
Has anyone mentioned Point Break yet?
Or does it belong in rubbish films that are actually good? 🙂
Everybody likes Ghostbusters
Not me.
Truly riveting , until he finds his welder 🙂
🙂
Ski School
Twin Town
Big Wednesday
All classics in their genres. I cannot conceive that anyone could possibly disagree with me 😉
I’d be (somewhat) surprised at anyone not liking:
I'd be somewhat surprised at anyone having even heard of all of those.
I may have missed it, but I can't quite believe this has run to four pages and no-one's mentioned Back to the Future.
The Breakfast Club. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Weird Science. Actually, pretty much any John Hughes movie.
The Princess Bride, already nominated but +1 here. The Terminator, Aliens, Total Recall, Die Hard.
Pretty much any Pixar. The Wrong Trousers.
I'd suggest Star Wars but I expect there'll be someone out there hating on it just to appear rangy and interesting.
Temple of Doom / Lost Ark.
Die Hard / DH2.
Skipped from page 1 to here, so just going to post my list. Various criteria applied, but they all do what they do extremely well (the best of their kind) IMO.
Blade Runner (pick your favourite cut).
Tremors
Metropolis
There Will Be Blood
A Sunday In Hell
Unforgiven
Brazil
Last Of The Mohicans
and my leftfield suggestion - Moulin Rouge
hot fuzz
Glad someone mentioned Back To The Future. Never met anyone who didn'y enjoy it.
Other choices would be
(original) The Italian Job
The Odd Couple
Chinatown
Tomb Raider
Harry Potter and xxxxxxxxx
Back to the future is brilliant. Every time I watch it I still think Marty won’t make it back at the end. Ferris Bueller is a terrible, terrible person. Never understood how people like it. He’s a complete ****, basically ruined Cameron’s life and failed the ‘don’t be a dick’ test.
Raiders of the Lost Arc seems like a great shout to me . If you want to be entertained for a couple of hours I don’t really see how you could not enjoy it . No doubt I’m about to find out 🙂
As mentioned in The Big Bang Theory, the film moves from set piece to set piece with Indy appearing in all of them but nothing he does has any effect at all. You could take Harrison Ford out of the film completely and still have the same result. 😉
The Scorpion King
Dallas Buyers Club
Sahara
Glad someone mentioned Back To The Future. Never met anyone who didn’y enjoy it.
We've never met then? It's a dull nostalgia fest with heaped up tedious false suspense as a replacement for plot
Spirited Away
Good call on The Thing. I also enjoyed the recentish prequel.
As mentioned in The Big Bang Theory,
Yeah at times it feels like that is how discussion in here goes, a bunch of people living detached from reality viewing films as if they were documentaries and unable to sit back and enjoy 😉
You could take Harrison Ford out of the film completely and still have the same result.
So Bomber would stand in front of the prop and kill himself?
Yeah at times it feels like that is how discussion in here goes, a bunch of people living detached from reality viewing films as if they were documentaries and unable to sit back and enjoy
I’ve always enjoyed it honest!! 😂 I thought that ^ was funny though. I remember a housemate back in the 80s saying he hated it because all Indy did was go from one fight to another. That’s the point..
