I doubt it but will suggest Goodfellas.
Oooh good call.
Terminator 2.
Dude, where’s my car?
Back to the future.
Fifth Element
No
Half the people posting on that other thread have all the imagination of a house brick, the rest are lovely.
EOT
Die Hard
+1 Goodfellas.
Not a big fan of the others mentioned. Except tomhoward's suggestion, which, unfortunately I haven't seen.
Interstellar
The Martian
Leon?
Fargo
I gather not of all of us have yet seen Mammia Mia 2 - Here We Go Again, but I imagine that'll probably be a winner
Toy Story, unless some people are truly miserable then we will have a definitive list
Surely - Jack Nicolson's finest:
The Departed
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Billy Liar the b&w version Tom Courtenay and Julie Christie
The Full Monty.
The Great Escape.
Agree with all of the above btw!
How about this one?
Nope. Not Goodfellas for me. Sorry.
The Matrix?
The one I Sky+ed last night - Deliverance
Goodfellas +1
The film that made me realise Aliens/Star Wars etc weren't that good really.
Deliverance is a classic too. Hard to evaluate 70s films these days.
Charlie and the chocolate factory
Surely – Jack Nicolson’s finest:
The Departed
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Yes to the 1st, no the 2nd and 3rd, replace them with Chinatown.
Cinema Paradiso
You can't not like Southern Comfort. It's just not possible. 🙂
Southern Comfort - awesome - not seen it in ages. Walter Hill made a lot of great movies with some dross later on.
Sorry, can't stand The Matrix.
I've tried, honest, but still don't like it.
Mad Max 2 - Road Warrior.
Fury Road was almost an amazing counterpart if it wasn't for the reliance on slightly too many visuals, and over-grading.
Eagle Vs Shark
I find the Departed entertaining but well down the trough for Scorsese proof that the Academy thought he might die soon.
I gather not of all of us have yet seen Mammia Mia 2 – Here We Go Again, but I imagine that’ll probably be a winner
That will be a license to print money.
Kermode actually broke down about how good it was. 5 Stars from him!
I will be going to see it.
Jean de Florette / Manon des Sources
The Unforgiven?
Contact (the Jodie Foster/MattMcCon sci-fi)
Grand Budapest Hotel
Moonrise Kingdom
Limminy Snickets Series of unfortunate events
The Grinch
The Cat in the Hat
Jaws
Close Encounters
First Blood
Rocky
the good the bad and the ugly
I think Terminator is better than T2 as much because it wasn't trying to live up to/ surpass the first.
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest is a great film - it was years after it was released before I saw it (no reason, just didn't see it at the time of release) and was stunned.
A couple of suggestions rather than critiquing the choices of others: Dr Strangelove and Some Like it Hot. Both comedies but at different ends of the humour spectrum.
Jaws
Life of Brian
Dr Strangelove
The Big Lebowski.
Shaun of the Dead.
The Wrong Trousers.
The Italian Job.
Can't see anyone disliking these?
Yeah, definitely The Italian Job. Mos Def is particularly good in that.
I'm on board with Leon.
Ditto Toy Story.
Die Hard?
Spirited Away? Bloody masterpiece.
Surely Hunt For The Wilderpeople ticks all the right boxes to be an STW Favourite?
Tremors. I've yet to meet a person that doesn't like Tremors.
Robocop (Original not remake)
I've never seen Rocky. Nothing against it, just now been around when it's on.
Not keen on Close Encounters, but couldn't say it wasn't really a good film.
But yep, all the above, Matrix excluded. 🙂
Chicken Run
Groundhog Day
Honey I shrunk the Kids
