Made girlfriend cup of tea and bent over to put it on a low coffee table when it just went, managed to put the tea down before keeling over on the floor in agony.
only way i can not be in pain is to lie on my front or back straight out, luckily girlfriend is a nurse and has loaded me with pain killers which have just started to kick in, and now i don't know what to do!
Pain is in my lower back not in any particular spot, if i try and sit up it on my bum on a chair it is significantly worse,
Contemplating going to A&E.....
Make an appointment with your GP.
play xbox.
you dont need A&E
i would quite happily go to a GP, apart from i can barely walk, and my GP is 40miles from where i am currently.
Also, don't have an Xbox....
rest
anti inflammatorys- ibrufen
heat packs

i am not a doctor but this works for me.
Sounds similar to what happened to me on Friday (and a few times over the last few years). My back muscles go in to spasm and cripples me.
Best thing I've found is a combo of painkillers, deep heat, ibuprofen gel and a TENS machine that sends electric pulses through the affected area ( if it can relieve labour pain it can relieve back pain!).
Keep it warm and stay in whatever position is comfortable but do keep moving around or it'll stiffen up, oo er.
This isn't the opinion of a doc, I went to casualty the first time it happened and they gave me kapake and ibuprofen in biblical quantities.
It usually takes me three or four days to be back to normal. Good luck fella I feel your pain.
Alternatively, I used a bag of frozen peas (put a teatowel round it first)
thanks for comments so far.
my main concern is that i've slipped a disc or something worse than just pulled muscle etc. the pain goes all the way down the back of my legs. Local GP won't see me because i'm not registered with them...
Have taken a mix of ibuprofen and syndol so far which has taken the edge off.
If you have a prolapsed disc, A&E wont be able to help you much more than a GP. And it would be a very uncomfortable few hours. Dose up on ibuprofen (or diclofenac sp?), get a comfy spot or the floor in front of the TV and watch some films.
Your missus can give you a checkup later today, and then see how you feel in a few days - if little improvement then you've probably a prolapsed disc and should go to the docs
Hi
sounds like youve got sciatica. if you have pins and needles on the sole of your foot, difficulty in lifting your foot due to muscle weakness not pain then you may have prolapsed a disc, try and stay mobile take pain killers regularly and see how things go over the next few days if all gets better then happy days
However If you are inexplicably incontinent (either way) or if you have pronounced weakness of a single muscle group then go and see your GP (same day) or a/e. if symptoms don't settle over the next few days get seen. It may be worth going to see your Gp anyway to gets some stronger pain relief/a few days of antispasmodics to help settle things.
your local GP should see you registered or not. We have to see even temporary residents(which i think is what you are) if immediate and necessary. You can register fully afterwards if necessary.
Thanks,
No pins or needles in feet as such, they are cold though!
i can't lift my feet/legs up more down to pain more than anything, majority of pain in the lower back/bum.
Managed to get comfortable on the sofa, should have been at an important uni briefing for the next project at 11, but there's no way i'll manage to get there.
Will try the surgery again, if nothing else to try and get some more pain relief.
999 ambulance ?
save yourself a trip to A&E, instead sit on a hard bench outside somewhere. for 4 hours. Add a screaming child and a smelly drunk to the bench.
Or take some ibuprofen and keep moving. going to bed/lying on the sofa/ having a long bath will help you seize up and make the pain worse when you need to move. A good walk helps.
Or, I once put my back out lifting my bike out of an uplift truck. The ride down was agony, until i hit a rooty section which apparently put my back "back in". Defies all my knowledge of anatomy and physiology, but it seemed to work (for about half an hour). Try it, let us know!
Feeling your pain right now. Did mine Friday, soca yesterday, resting today. Thinking about a couple of phisio sessions too. Missing bike already. Did mine doing housework. Pah- should have left the place dirty!
999 ambulance ?
There's always one 🙄
Woody he's one of us I fell for that once before.
In that case
Too subtle for me. See you Wednesday Drac if it's definitely on - got an email from Tracey saying maybe not enough numbers. I'll check now and confirm
Edit> still on at 0900. Email just sent apparently.
When i prolapsed a disc in my back last year i was told to lie on my back for a few days to try and let it slip back in. Got very bored but when it started to feel better i started moving around and after 2 weeks i could nearly move properly. 2 months later i was still aware of it.
Physio told me to strengthen my core muscles and not ride a hardtail!
Welcome to the world of glass backs!!!!
Hope you feel better soon mate 8)
Yeah see you then, must remember to pick up my PPE.
