[Closed] Is the IPad a big IPod touch, or is there more to them than that?

Thinking about getting one but I've got a touch already. If they had been introduced the other way round, would the touch be regarded as "more unbelievable" due to it's size?

thats a decent summary.

Theres a bit more flexibility in what it can do because it has a bigger screen, but in essence youre correct

I thought the ipad was a stupid idea, until I eventually got one. The bigger screen makes a lot of things easier, for a start - movies are nicer to watch, the keyboard is much easier to use, web browsing is much better when you don't have to zoom in all the time.

But it's the stuff that just wouldn't work on a small device which is really cool - simple things like Heatpad which my daughter loves (it's like a heat-sensitive screen), Sim City works very well, and for work I can get the full screen of my online order system on-screen at once.

It's not a laptop replacement, and some things about it are extremely annoying, but for what it's built for it's very good.

I got one when my laptop hard drive failed and had to go back for repair.

If you have an iWhatever already then you already know how it goes.

I find I use it a lot, probably too much, as it's handy, is instant on and is big enough screen wise.

It you use you touch a lot then it would be worth going for...

I really like mine, but there are a few things it can't do, it's my only computer and so I'm selling it at the moment in the classifieds if you want to take a look...

Thanksfor that....I'm convinced now that it would be a luxury purchase seeing as I've got a Touch and a laptop. Nothing wrong with luxury tho'.....I'll see how the money goes.

A question (not a hijack - I hope!!)...

Mrs G wants a tablet and is not fussed which flavour, any reason why I should/shouldn't get her an android (Samsung/Sony) over an iPad?

Only reason I'd say stay with Apple is if you already have a iPhone, Mac or iTouch as many the apps will share over to them so no need to share and your music will happy share too.

If you don't have an Apple product then an android tablet will be just fine.

I find a MacBook Air more practical than an iPad. It's not much bigger but you get a proper keyboard.

£849 for a note book, you can get a keyboard for an iPad if it's the keyboard that's an issue.
