Lyrics:
You make me glow, but I cover up
Won’t let it show, so I’m
Puttin’ my defences up
Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack (x3)

I think it's insensitive to those who have lost a loved one to an MI.

Why is it okay to sing about having a heart attack?

This wouldn't be acceptable

If I ever did that
I think I’d have a brain haemorrhage (x3)

Just think it's very unpleasant subject matter for a "pop song."

No, not really. Oversensitive people being oversensitive...

Anyway, lyrically it doesn't have the genius of...

I'm as serious as cancer
When I say that rythym is a dancer

The only two people who's opinions I know about on this matter are mine and yours.

Its just you.

(I suspect if the group were larger, the result would be the same)

Too true, Ben Stiller was brainwashed using the song "Relax" by Frankie goes to Hollywood into killing the Prime Minister of Euronasia. The whole tale unfolded in a documentary called "Zoolander" that I watched the other day.

pop music is a bit crap at times. See Fig 1 and Fig 1a.
always has been.

Fig 1.
If our love should crumble,
like a very old wall

Fig 1a.
Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak.
Somewhere in this town

"A kiss with a fist is better than none".

As a lover, not a fighter, I find that deeply offensive.

Teach me to harvest I want you to grow in my hand
Lets be optimistic, lets say that we won't toil in vain
If we pull together we'll never fall apart again

We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention
We all need a love resurrection
Just a little divine intervention

Show me one direction
I will not question again
For a warm injection
Is all I need to calm the pain

Sexual innuendo including male arousal and getting nailed by One Direction, as requested by Alison Moyet.

Eurgh - now that is sick...

Suggestive lyrics aren't anything new;

You can squeeze my lemon till
Juice run down my leg.
You can squeeze my lemon till
Juice run down my leg.
That's what I'm talking about!

Robert Johnson 1937.

I'm as serious as cancer
When I say that rhythm is a dancer

I use a similar tact when discussing strong matters with patients...

I think it's insensitive to those who have lost a loved one to an MI.

Doesn't bother me in the least. (Supposing "MI"=what I would call a 'heart attack'.) Why would it?

This wouldn't be acceptable

If I ever did that
I think I’d have a brain haemorrhage (x3)

Yes it would.

Try again...

Reading the thread title I honestly thought you meant 'sick' as in 'well good'.

Dat is a sick track man. Yeah, well peng.

All pop music is subversive crap.

Listen to Slayer or Deicide to get the real truth.

I guess if you don't like it then you can always change the station?
Oh, and don't listen to "Heart shaped box" by Nirvana. I guess you wouldn't like some of Cobain's other songs too, "Rape me" for instance.

As usual, all others fall by the wayside with the approach of the mighty Motorhead, offending everyone who has ever lost anyone due to anything. I give you:

Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak.
Somewhere in this town

On the face of it you would assume the breakout would be at the jail.
If you are in London you would have to figure out which prison it will be at. So not as easy to rumble as it first appears.

Madness

Never get there at this rate
Hes caught up in a jam.
There's a meeting this morning
It's just his luck oh damn!
His hand dives in his pocket
For his handkerchief.
Pearls of sweat on his collar
His pulse-beat seems so brief.
Eyes fall on his wris****ch
The seconds pass real slow
Gasping for the hot air
But the chest pain it wont go.
Tried to ask for help
But cant seem to speak a word,
Words are whispered frantically
But dont seem to be heard.
What about the wife and kids?
They all depend on me!

We're so sorry
We told you not to hurry.
Now its just too late
You've got a certain date
We thought we made it clear
We all voiced our inner fears
We left it up to you
Theres nothing we can do.

" It's all over now, baby blue" Bob Dylan being insensitive as usual 🙄

Memphis Minnie sang
I ain't no doctor, but I'm the doctor's wife
You better come to me if you want to save your life
He's a dirty mother fuyer, he don't mean no good
He got drunk this morning, tore up the neighborhood

which I like as a descriptive innuendo in the early 1930's

zippy,

If you are in London you would have to figure out which prison it will be at. So not as easy to rumble as it first appears.

I'd say a "town" is unlikely to be big enough for two jails.

You'd be into cities and metropolitan areas for >1 jail. And rhyming/scancion problems.

Doesn't 'jail' tend to imply a facility for those awaiting trial or convicted of minor offences, rather than a larger 'prison' for those convicted of serious crimes? So there could be more than one jail even in a relatively small town.

And tunnels.

Perfectly reasonable to say a jailbreak is where they emerge, rather than the point at which the tunnel crosses the perimeter, especially if statements concern the whereabouts of the escapees, as appears to be the case here.

I'm going to let them have it.

I have no idea what this one is all about...

I love myself I want you to love me
When I feel down I want you above me
I search myself I want you to find me
I forget myself I want you to remind me

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
Ooh I don't want anybody else Oh no, oh no, oh no

You're the one who makes me come running
You're the sun who makes me shine
When you're around I'm always laughing
I want to make you mine

I close my eyes And see you before me
Think I would die If you were to ignore me
A fool could see Just how much I adore you
I get down on my knees I do anything for you

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself
Ooh I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

I love myslef I want you to love me
When i feel down I want you above me
I search myself I want you to find me
I forget myself I want you to remind me

I don't want anybody else
And when I think about you I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

*spoken*
I want you
I don't want anybody else
And when i think about you I touch myself
OO OO OO-OO Ahhhhh

I don't want anybody else
When i think about you I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
When i think about you I touch myself
I touch myself

I don't anybody else
When i think about you I touch myself

Don't be fooled by the gladioli and flowery shirts .....

"And if a double decker bus
Crashes into us
To died by your side
It's such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To died by your side
Well, the pleasure and the privilege is mine"

Don't even get me started on Bigmouth strikes again 😯

a typical friday night out...
Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never of happened to Smeaton
An old leodensian
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I tried to get to my taxi
The man in a tracksuit attacks me
He said that he saw it before me
And wants to get things a bit gory
Girls scrabble round with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen
they're not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

awesome!! 😀

Just recently bought Alt-J's album, it's very good, but can't help thinking Breezeblocks is a bit...um...rapey?

"She may contain the urge to run away
But hold her down with soggy clothes and breezeblocks
Germolene, disinfect the scene my love, my love, love, love
But please don't go, I love you so, my lovely"

With the lightbulb head."
"Avert your eyes from his gaze,
Junior, and we may yet be saved."
"But Daddy... it's you!"
"You're too late. I've come to turn
You on. Huhahaha!"

Except "kicks" is a bowdlerised version of the original. The original makes a bit more sense.
