it is oven proof. whether it's any good for baking in....

My mum makes treacle sponge in them though.

That's the whole point of pyrex, otherwise it would just be a glass bowl.

Can go from the freezer to the oven too IIRC

don't take it out of the oven and absent mindedly put it on a hot hob. they go kaboom...

Turned an electric oven ring on by accident with one on top, they sort of explode. Scared me half to death!

Why d'you think it's called Pyrex? From the Greek word pyro meaning fire.
