No, it's not too old.
It's my birthday tomorrow, that'll make me a 51 year old diabetic.

Sorry. 😥

What was the age in BladeRunner? - that would be a good cut off point....

It wasn't Blade Runner which had the age thing.
It was " Logans Run " ,
a totally differant and far inferior film 😉

and whats wrong with Downhill Zimmer frame racing ?
Recall discussing that idea on the start line of a karrimor dh many years ago, I was a master ( race cat not skill level ) even then.....

I'm 55 and depressed,I'm now a house husband, and I have to do the school run twice a day,no more hooning in the peaks during the week, boohoo.I've had to get another bike,as the Remedy is a bit much for the local trails, and the wife has got the nark on over the cost LOL

should definitely be a cut off point at 50, like in Logans Run, except that's 30. better get riding then, only 12 years left, boo.

Earlier this year I had a 72 year old gentlemen on my moutain bike skills course. He did really well, especially considering he had never been off road before! He was quite cautious but still went for drop-offs and steps! And in a couple of weeks I'll have a lady in her 60s on a course. Age shouldn't limit people when starting mountain biking, mountain biking is for everyone, just sometimes at a slower pace!

Guy I ride with is in his mid to late 50s. Not sure exactly how old because every time it crops up, the piss taking starts. Not too much though, because he's still ****in rapid on the DH, has been competing at the Avalanche enduros, the Mega itself (won the vets cat in 2007 and got to go the Reunion Island Avalanche for his troubles) and goes to the Alps every year riding. Currently rides a BlurLT, a Nomad and a Sunn Radical Finest.

50 is the new 30.

Lard arse younguns prefer to use a car and don't see the point in riding push bikes, or doing any other form of useful exercise.

Age is no issue. Itmight have been for our parent's generation, but ours (the forty to fifty somethings) is much more active.

I skied with a 78 year old a couple of years ago, a retired surgeon. His wife, a lawyer, wasn't much younger and they were both very fit and agile.

We were being guided on a ski tour operator's excursion and we were the in the advanced set. It was full on fast skiing all day and the old guy went like a bat out of hell. We could hardly keep up!

At lunch I learned that this couple also liked to sail, picturing them in some comfortable cruising yacht, but no, not them! They were into racing Lazers off the South coast. They said they hand launched and recovered too.

I hope i'm like that when i'm their age!
