I've just bought a new laptop and my old one has all my iTunes library on it. I've been told not to plug my iPod Touch into my new laptop as it will delete all it's contents, thus losing all my songs and video's - is this true? If so how do I get my iPod to work with new laptop and keep all it's content? Have I got to get my old hard-drive and transfer all the files over that way? Any help appreciated

Somebody may come along with a better option however you could simply copy all of the music libraries onto an external disk and transfer them that way.

Alternatively if you IPOD already has all of your music buy a product such as "copypod" which will allow you to migrate it from your Ipod Touch onto your new laptop and into Itunes.

Copy pod is a good product and I think only costs about £10 or so. I am sure there are lots of equally good similar products out there.

How much music in gigabytes?

You could burn a data dvd (or dvds) on your old laptop and then upload that to the new one. You can get about 4GB on a data dvd.

If you sync your ipod with the new computer it will wipe it. Though I believe if you copy over your media files, and still have the old computer working, you can backup the 'old' computer Itunes database and transfer it to the new computer.
Google is your friend.

In my case, my g/f's iphone is sync'd with a now dead computer, so as far as I can see I'm going to have to start from scratch - which is no problem files wise (except one movie - Doh!), though I'll have to recreate all the playlists.

Right first things first if you plug your iPod into your new computer you will be asked if you want to sync it with your knew computer. Click No and that will leave your iPod alone.

If you want to transfer all your info on the iPod onto your new laptop then go here and you will be able to find out how to do whatever you want with your old iPod and new laptop.

I've got 16gb of music and video's. My old laptop is with the insurance company and they are sending me the hard-drive back as it's got all my tunes on it. I think I'm going get an extrenal drive as I need to back my photo's up as well.
