Just wondered if anybody knew when the iphone5 is likely to be released in the uk?
Given previous release cycles, the 4GS will probably be out in the summer. This year was June 24th, and its usually a year between new models dropping.
there is talk of a new version in Q1 but this is meant to be for Verizon, think 4GS-v1.1 rather than fifth generation. It might mean new features but i doubt it.
If there's another model in January, it'll be functionally identical to the current iPhone 4, and be for the other US network. The next UK iPhone will be in the summer.
End of June, beginning of July. Apple always use a twelve month product cycle, with iPods around September, iPhone June/July. 5G is likely to follow the same form, retina screen, [i]no[/i] OLED, there is insufficient production capacity per year to satisfy probably even one month's iPhone sales. Possible change to the chassis, Apple now have full access to Liquid Metal technology, so that might be introduced. Possibly faster processor, more RAM, more storage capacity, and there's talk of NFC (Near Field Communication), RFID built into the phone, so you can use it like an Oyster Card or electronic wallet. Incremental rather than evolutionary changes, really. I'm waiting for the 6G, when I get my next upgrade. 😀
