iPad runs really slow on our wireless b'band. Hardly has any apps and no movies and all updates have been done. Our old 10 year Dell laptop runs much quicker when browsing. It seems to pick up an IP address fine and can renew. A static ip makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Reset the network settings. Apparently the latest version of iOS gets itself in a knot if you upgrade on a mixed network or something.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
