Just thinking idly about removing the traditional bed from our bedroom and building a raised platform to fill the end of the room, with maybe a double and single mattress or two doubles. Could enclose it with curtains to make it cosy optionally, and there'd be a shitload of storage underneath it which we could seriously use.

Wouldn't be at all expensive, and I could do a good job on the woodwork. Having a google shows lots of sleeping areas and beds constructred like this but nothing the same.

What do you reckon? Weird, or cool? I'm pretty tempted.

the picture looks more like a large Cat-tickle bed.

The image is more of a tackle tickle bed.

Gonna depend entirely on the rest of the decor. They look pretty good in micro apartments or converted loft spaces but in a typical UK 3 bed semi it runs the risk of looking like an oversized child's cabin bed.

This would be great if you were at Primary school. Less cool if a grown-up.

Maybe you could have a slide for easy dismounting?

I did that in my flat.
Low to the ground pine bed king size frame, with legs flipped round so it was flat at the bottom.
Bolted a big sleeper to the wall and screwed head end on to that.
Got a big chest of drawers at the foot end, again frame screwed to that.

Been up for a few years and not shifted, even if things get.. vigorous.

Loads of storage underneath, it's about 5 feet up.
Just have a wee step on the ground to climb up

Depends if you're going for the adult movie look and don't want sell the property in the future.
