MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Oh great and wise STW mind.....
I'm in the market for a new laptop for general family use, web browsing, using MS office, storing pictures & music to replace a 7 year old desktop PC.
My gut feeling is to go for an Intel i5 processor but would the AMD equivalent (Phenom II 955 ?) be better value?
Am looking at Lenovo or Samsung mainly, are there any better options?
The only must have is an HDMI socket and a matt screen.
Budget between £400-£450
Best performance and value - Intel sandybridge.
For a laptop for home use, performance isn't that important unless you're going to edit movies, pictures (as in photoshop) and playing CPU/memory heavy games like first person shooters online.
For what you described, and AMD phenom should do the trick too. Sandybridges are a bit less power hungry.
