I can't remember what my blood pressure was recorded as before, but I know the doctor was impressed (I have a feeling ti was 120 over 70), and I have always had a resting heart rate of between 52 and 56 bpm.
I just went for a gym induction and they recorded a resting of 71 bpm and a high blood pressure reading of 140 over 80.
Is there anything that can cause both of these to be temporarily high?
I do feel a little wobbly today, a bit like when you haven't had enough sugar, any ideas?
Stress.
All sorts of stuff.
A one off reading isn't enough. Go to the GP and ask them to test you. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time and relax in the waiting room.
(Or you could be like me and just found out you have a heart arrhythmia.... 🙁 )
First, at a guess the Gym aren't recording your resting heart rate (unless you've slept the night there), just your everyday not doing a lot heart rate, which will be quite a bit higher.
For the blood pressure could be a number of things, stress, illness, something deadly.
Or more likely they haven't measured it the same way as your doctor has. Depending on the height of the cuff with relation to the heart you can go from measurements saying you're awesomely fit to at deaths door.
Pregnancy
Blood pressure rises with heart rate. Your increase in blood pressure is what you'd expect with a 20 BPM increase in heart rate. I'd have to have a look at the printout to be sure but I seem to remember being 180 over something doing a VMA and the cadiologist said it was low.
Edit: VMA is max imum aerobic speed so about 180bpm
Blood pressure varies massively depending on what you are doing. If you are relaxing it'll be really low, if youre at a gym you'll be ready for action a little bit (even subconsciously) so it'll be higher.
those reading are within normal limits and nowt to worry about.
Loads of stuff causes it to alter -even a cup of coffee can.
Did you fancy the muscle man checking your 'stats' 😆
I'd be rather concerned if I was pregnant, but as a man I think I would make a lot of cash.
He seemed pretty concerned and asked me not to push it today!
Not really my type Dunc lol.
Cup of coffee alters my rates in a similar way to your own, from 50 to 70 bpm etc, could also be a bit of 'white coat' syndrome ?
I once drank a bottle of 'Jolt' cola in the states and looked a little like Wile e coyote after eating the earthquake tablet...........
