Will I get stung to death?
Need to put in some reccessed lights upstairs but there's a very active Wasps nest up there.
And the thing about them being atracted to the work light is that an old wives tale?
The missus is away the weekend and I've been tasked with finishing the job.
So Wasps stings or no hanky panky for the year?
Reckon You will get stung, I did when I went in my loft before realising there was a nest
Bought some Raid wasp nest destroyer, fires a jet of the chemical a good distance
Popped my head up there with a torch, opened fire and shut the hatch down again a bit sharpish.
Gave it a day and the nest had collapsed with a good few corpses and the rest had either gone or were on their last legs
A friend of mine had a similar problem and someone from the council came and sprayed the nest. The guy told my friend about another punter who didn't realise he had a wasp nest in his loft until the wasps had bored through the plaster ceiling and swarmed him and his wife in their bed in the middle of the night.
Right I'm killing the little ****ers then.
Da da-da-da-daaa da-da-da-daaaa da-da-da-deeeeee
I had mine done by the professionals...
two blokes, vests, shorts, ladder up side of house, bloke1 put on chemical rucksack and started climbing up ladder, bloke 2 holding ladder bottom, then rammed the nozzle under the tiles and into the nest 'you might want to go inside now' - it was like the battle of Midway, it really was, the wasps just swarmed, everywhere, and these two blokes just stood there ... anyway about 3 minutes later 'we're done, wait till tomorrow, popup with a bin liner and a shovel and scrape whats left up and stick it in the bin'
Job done £25
But without the aircraft carriers.
Those two were brave! I worked for Rentokil a long time ago and the techies there didn't even like doing wasp nests. They can be really aggressive and even dangerous if the nest is large.
They can fly up to 1km away from the nest on the warpath stinging everything in sight if the colony is big enough.
Nasty little ****ers when they get pi$$ed off, use extreme caution.
Nazi's of the insect world, wasps. I ****in hate em.
Per the comments above I'd be very careful - been on the receiving end of multiple wasp stings and it's not nice.
If you aggravate them and fail to kill them / get out of the way sharp enough you'll have a major problem on your hands. If £25 is all the local Cooncil charge to get rid of them I'd opt for that.
They're no match for my 70's Gat gun.
