Yellow belt with a black stripe (not sure what the black stripe means)
but we're really proud of her. 🙂

She 's only 6 and has been trying really hard for it since joining about 3 months ago.

Nice one 😀

My son (7) is on green...it amazes me how quick the gradings come around; seems like every other month. When I did judo as a lad it seemed to take years to get up the grades.

we grade twice a year, the trouble with grading too frequently is that you just learn how to get through a belt, not really how to use what you've learnt with proper technique. I guess it's different for kids as you need to keep their interest, but seeing how sloppy some intermediate (orange/green/purple) kids are in other associations, I am happy that it's going to take me until I'm 104 to get my ninja powers....

Congrats to your daughter. I remember the look on my Dad's face when he came to one of my gradings (Chojinkai, 1st Kyu Brown belt when I packed up). He couldn't believe his little PITA of a son had acquired enough discipline to pass a belt.

Thinking back, my old man being proud of me was something that definitely stuck with me.
