Our 1 year old refuses to go in his cot. Any attempt to put him down results in screaming and another hour of consolation.

So, new tactic. I'm currently in his cot with him to prove it's an acceptable place.

I'm 6'2"

If you normally share a 4'6" bed you only have the width of a cot anyway. I can see the length might be an issue though.

Mrs STR reminded me tonight of the time I got up for a middle of the night wee (14/something years ago) and then proceeded to climb into our daughters cot - naked and obviously inebriated from the night before. Fortunately she caught me, kicked my arse back into our bedroom and social services didn't have to get involved

My son going into his own bed has been awesome, any hassle and I just get into bed with him, get a better nights sleep than in my own bed with a newborn in the room.

That is of course until last night when I woke up to him vomiting on my face. Counting down the hours till whatever he has hits me 😕
