I'll start my bid at something from the 60's looking at that steering wheel.

Strong start i reckon.

First clue... I am fairly sure is panel sided like an a35 van rather than a morris minor van with a coachbuilt type box out the back.

Good likeness for the steering wheel, but I would look at the door frame and pillar and discount the Ford.

The steering wheel is all wrong. I am fairly sure its two spokes not three the third thing is a stalk.

Can't see from the picture but is it a 3 spoke steering wheel or a two spoke with a column change (one spoke doesn't looked "connected" in the pic). My old Bedford CA was 2 spoke and column change.

Yeah column change i think. You can see the spokes are almost opposite each other.

I was thinking Bedford CA because of the column change, but the wheel doesn't look right.

The triangular cross section spokes and the way they flare into the rim look like a Commer, but no idea which one.

Commer Express was column shift and those shape spokes. But the centre boss might be wrong / looks like a later Commer.

Again, its quite hard to gauge but i don't think the earth pile is big enough

Commer Express and other models were car sized and related to Hillman Minx so not big vans. And they had column shift.

Can you be more precise with the location Josh? I'm in the Borders too and a buried van would be a good hunt, a bit different from the usual crashed planes

Yep head up burnside from Eddleston.

Just keep heading up and after a bit of a switchback there is an odd set of structures.

Be careful, not sure whats really there and there could well be a tank* underground so just watch where you put your feet.

*Not that kind.

Or boddies.

Why would you buy a car though? Its intentionals mounded rather than an infilled hole. Its intact in the sense that they would have known it would create a void.

Childrens den?

Henhouse ?

Ever seen Brassic? The gang of scallies hung out in some sort of underground void (and part time growhouse) at a farm, rather bigger than a Commer van admittedly.
