[#2135918]

Just got a note for a VAT return and with it is a pamphlet detailing the increase to 20% VAT, for all transaction from the 4th January 2011.

Where the hell did the 4th come from, whats' wrong with the 1st?

And yes, my accounting software/spreadsheet is set up by months, with a single rate per month...

Could it just maybe be the first working day of 2011?

If you are a civil servant, probably - but for the rest of us there is Sat and Sun and then the Bank Holiday.

How many shops do you think will be putting prices up in January?

Are you saying you want to pay MORE tax, I'm sure you can if you want. I'll have the 2.5% for those 3 days in my paypal if you want.

Don't see a problem - charge the vat at the prevalent rate on the day of sale/invoice. No big deal is it?

I won't be working Sat Jan 1st, nor Sun Jan 2sd. In fact very few people will be.

I am not a civil servant.

Btw - just reconcile (or get your accountant to) the transactions on the first few days of January and set the vat to 20% for the month.
