I went to a stag do this weekend at which I discovered that other mid forties men had high end smartphones with netflicks and football score apps, saved eBay bids of Cafe Racers, tablets for bedtime googling of Web based series with nary a worry about "data" and were able to control their drink, which was mainly popular spirits with a mixer.  There were able to manage many conversations about Brexit and economies which baffled me.

I rocked up with a budget smartphone and stood about clutching many bottles of Peroni until I fell over.

I've got something very wrong.  Is it just me?

Just your inability to believe that you’re perfectly fine just as you are.

Maybe you should address your own feelings of inadequancy rather what phone people have, these things matter not. You are successful in your own right, you are successful and happy? Why compare yourself to others!

You aren’t dull, you ride XC and train a lot for it.

Just means you put your focus in another direction.

The smartphone is a problem that everyone should remedy, remedy quickly. Go buy shiney.. 🤪

Brexit conversations should be easy to interact with, stick with your gut feeling on the subject and don’t feel intimidated because your view may not be theirs.

Ditch the Peroni though, syrup is vile.

This didn't read as, or generate the comedy it was meant to .

Dammit.

I usually do the washing up at parties... better than having to talk to anyone and show up just how dull I am.

(I'm very happy with all of the above, by the way)

I have . friends across a wide spectrum of wealth, success and materialism. We all seem to respect each other as long as we have integrity in what we do.

My most ridiculously wealthy friend thinks I'm living the dream.  I have about 2% of his money and we get on splendidlly.

When we all ride or sail we set ourselves different challenges and we are only judged on how we measured up to them.

The mistake you made there was not to get on the G&T's quick sharp , then you would have become the witty, rakishly handsome, bon viveur you know you can be. 🙂

I went to a stag do this weekend ...

I rocked up with a budget smartphone and stood about clutching many bottles of Peroni until I fell over.

Is the correct answer.

Not quite the right answer ..

Probably best to only clutch one bottle at a time for fear of spillage ..otherwise great effort OP ..

Surely bedtime tablet watching is done on wifi not data?

Whatever, I wouldn't say that someone who watches telly in bed is the epitome of cool.
