The s is there because there are more than one nation so no apostrophe needed.

Technically 'Six Nations' Rugby' I'd say - the rugby is possessive of the six nations.

And it's called '6 Nations' but another 'rule' is less than 10 is spelled out rather than numerised.

Adjective plus compund noun. No apostrophe necessary.
It is the rugby of the six nations.
