Nah, he'll just bottle it and stay with his wife.

Freddy on the other hand, pretty posh boy in Felpersham nick? Not looking good, is it?

Russ is getting ever more vile.

Is he under investigation for something worse than boffing Lilly just after her 18th?

Nasty piece of work.

I didn't like the thing with the posh, multi-temperature Italian kettle the other day. It was very STW. Is he on here?

Does anyone think its lost its way a bit?  I'm struggling to remember anything significant happening in the last few months bar the drugs and the teacher thing.

Isn't that supposed to be the beauty of the Archers, that it has the ability to just thrumble* along, as opposed to the constant need for plot a la the TV soaps?

*Happily coincidentally both the noise of a tractor's wheels along a badly maintained country road, and the noise middle aged Gammon's make when the story line involves Pip or Lilly....

What!!! Have you missed Jennifer's slow meltdown over the sale/non-sale of the Home Farm house. Or the glorious moment when Kate realised that she has, potentially, made herself homeless and is condemned to live in a yurt. Or the rumbling quasi-romance between Tom and the organic juice woman. Or the curious Pip / Toby / Rex triangle. Or the fact that Shula has clearly gone a little doolally. Or... I mean, waddya want, the return of Rob Titchener maybe. Or Tony being gored by a bull again? Hmmm...

I listen to the omnibus version on Sundays and recently I'm conscious of it just washing over me and nothing is really grabbing my attention!  The Rob thing was good but it dragged on a little bit too long for me.

Do you think he'll come back?  Matt returning for a while was good as well 🙂

The Archers spent most of the 1980's in the doldrums.

You have to take the long view 🙂

Have you considered Hollyoaks as an alternative? I gather it's an everyday tale of serial-killing folk.

As opposed to an everyday tale of cereal killing folk.

I am a bit concerned about Freddy's mental health either we're looking at going down the bipolar root or straight depression. ... I do hope they're not looking to use him as a vehicle to highlight the tragic incidences of young male suicide.

Let's hope my fears are unfounded.

Discuss.

(However, my money is on Kenton hoofing him in the slats at the Brookfield Christmas dinner table...)

It's funny but as I've grown up with the archers I actually do see them as real people rather than actors so no idea who that baron is but sad that he has also passed.

Hmmm. Jim, nutty, obsessive, cantankerous but interesting. Harold, talented party-leading entertainer. Alastair, boring, whining, self-obsessed dullard. I think Alastair is Shula's love-child.

Just caught up with the last month's misery.

At least the scriptwriters are consistent - need a bit of excitement? Ruin things for the Grundys.

Mind you, the episode with the shotgun was brilliantly done.
Will's finally lost it hasn't he?
The most horrible man in Ambridge, but so well acted.

Sad dat. have been wondering when he would go in Ambridgeworld. It must have been really moving and tough for the actors to do that scene after losing their friend in real life.

Yes I have to admit Eddie’s farewell to his dad was as moving a piece of radio as I’ve heard in a long time. I suspect there was genuine emotion there as well as good acting.

So, is it bye bye Linda, do we think? It certainly sounds like Gavin's stint in Ambridge is likely to be short.
Predictions?

Na, Lynda's a major character and someone needs to look after the llamas - I reckon she'll be revived by the paramedics then spend some time recovering, but mostly be okay.

Gavin, on the other hand, is expendable and toast. Cue Philip and Kirsty beating themselves up about going away for the weekend.

Ambridge is short on disabled characters so my prediction is that Linda will become a quadriplegic surviver and as part of his rehabilitation process Freddie will offer a couple of limbs for transplant. In his PTSD Oliver starts molesting Tracy calling her Caroline.

He'll be some off-the-books incompetent with a bad chain-smoking habit who Gav sub-contracted the job to so he could spend his weekend moping around with a hangover feeling sorry for himself. Blake will have caused the explosion by hacking through the gas main with a lit fag hanging out of the corner of his mouth. Blake will have been unsupervised and probably invalidated Philip Moss's liability insurance.

I think Gavin is in all sorts of trouble even if he hasn't been blown up 🙂

Who knows Flashy, who knows.....

Can anyone remember who actually left the gas on?
I seem to remember an employee saying something about making bacon butties on the morning of the explosion, but I can't remember who.
Freddy, Tracy, Roy?

Anyone shed some light?

So have they ran out of episodes then?

How are they going to restart this when things get back to normal?

Will there be no mention of Cvd 19? Will Ambridge be in an Alternative Universe where it never happened?

Will they start again from April with everyone in lockdown and play catch up?

Will there be a Bobby Ewing moment to reset?

Not sure I am that impressed with the “monologues” but I do like Tracy becoming a bigger character, I am prepared for some truly daft storylines involving her.

The monologues just don't work for me, i find it difficult to keep listening to it. I'm amazed with todays technology that they have to do something like that.

As an aside what happened to Matt Crawford?

I quite like the monologues, the Tracy Horrorbag one was hilarious, such a great character.
