😐

I think its died. Its in a jar of rice on the hot radiator currently.

What are its chances of survival? Screen has been removed so it can breathe.

when I looked last there was condensation on the top of the jar....

Take it off the heater straight away and let it dry naturally (i.e. slowly) in a jar / cup or bag of rice, don't put a lid on it. Leave it there for a few days and then try it. Don't be tempted to try to power it up until at least two days.

If you leave it on the radiator you're creating exactly the wrong environment for it, would you feel better in a sauna?

We tell customers to do this all the time, and it works. Very few are beyond total repair. If it is goosed get yourself to the nearest apple store, be honest and see what they think. Mind you, if you've dismantled it already Apple may well tell you to bolt...

Brought mine back to life after 4 days in the airing cupboard in a bowl of rice, it was still soaked round the battery, so glad I stripped it first to check 😉

Youtube has quite a few vids on how to strip but not many on how to rebuild.

Don't be tempted to switch it on, untill you are 100% sure its totally dry, or it might make a sound like its frying an egg, big mistake with the first one that got soaked, you live and learn 😉

[edit] Apple took pity on my first one & with just a month to go on the guarantee, they replaced it free of charge, so that might be your first port of call.

Doubt it, its an old 3GS that my rich mate gave me as they all got upgraded to I-phone 4's....

thanks anyway.

BTW, thank all (well most anyway!)

still worth a try mind, as they offer a standard price to exchange faulty phones anyway.

Is that the splash resistant one? The one not designed for total immersion in water? Made to show off to your drunk ****y mates around the pool in Ibiza.
Ah yes: 'Dust proof and water and scratch resistant. Good luck with dropping that in the pool then, there's all the various card slots to dry out as well.

Right, screen was removed and left it to dry aout first on a hot radiator, then on a cold one, (heating went off)

Connected the screen back up but left it loose and turned it on. Nothing.

Connected it to the PC, it all appeared fine but obviously no screen image.

Rebooted, turned it on again. Now I have screen imaged and it all works but no backlight.

google says it can be fixed and needs a new backlight coil. Probably got fried when water got to it.

part is about £7 but fitting it is another £50. anyone handy with micro-soldering in exchange for some cash, wine or bike bits?

If you'd left it unopened and in a warm place in some rice it would have been fine mind you,,,,
