So finally got everyone informed about quitting work, I think they are going to make me work the full 2 weeks' notice. I really really wanted to get out early so I can take a 2 week break before starting the new one.

At the last place I worked I almost had a screaming rant at the boss, threw my pass in his face and stormed out. I needed the money, otherwise I really would have done it.
Excessive internet usage. Illness (real or otherwise). tell them you're off to a competitor, most companies will almost literally push you out the door in that case.
Do you need the money? Or think you'll need a reference off them later?
If not, just don't bother going in. That's what I've done in the past.
