It has to be reasonable - which is open to debate.

The mountaineering council of Scotland who were part of the discussions over the access code publish advice

I don't know what the scandenavian situation is but for Scotland it can be summed up as "take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints and don't pee off the locals" 🙂

Follow the MCofS advice and you will be fine.

It is legal. An 1865 law prohibiting it has been reversed by a 2003 act.

Where are you going?
If you're going wild, (say North West highlands) it's fine. if you're staying civilisted, (say Princes St Gardens), it'll be frowned upon.
Another way of looking at it is if you can see more sheep than people and it's not the Highland Show, camp away my good man.

It'll be sufficiently wild to avoid attention anyway - I'm used to doing it in wales 🙂
