So we finally made it to a Superstox & banger racing event at Rushmoor Area in Aldershot on Sunday
Now the Superstox are PROPER race cars. Yes, it's a contact sport, but make no mistake, these are bloody loud and effing rapid, and the drivers have more than a bit of skill.
And with 30 odd cars on a small oval, including national champions etc, do you know what they do?
They draw grid positions out of a hat as they drive into the arena.
Hell YES! It's brilliant. This is the way it should be done.
Stuff qualifying (Give everyone a half day to sort their set ups maybe) then just ram 'em onto the grid in a random order. Can you imagine that in F1 or Moto GP? Sort the men from the boys, that would.....

On another note, banger racing is hysterical!
Axe Edge is my local equivalent.
On a afternoon (often a bank holiday) there will be superstox, bangers, junior formats and finish off with car/caravan demolition derby on the figure8 course.
It is a top day out.
I used to know the Specials champion (2003 or something) for the uk. I watched him race it once and he started about 20 metres from the back of the grid. When i asked him why he said it was more interesting passing people than starting at the front (where he would qualify for every race) and just blitzing off.
